summer-email-marketing.jpgLabor Day has come and gone, kids have returned to school and most marketers are counting the days until they can launch their holiday campaigns and finish out another successful year. But before we file away our summertime memories and pull out the cable knit, let’s take one more fond look back on a few of the email campaigns that impressed us most last season.

Here are three clever and inspiring summer email campaigns we loved.

1. Madewell

Summer is high season for travel, but it’s also a high season for summer-specific inventory sales and promotions. Madewell took a slightly different approach this year with a campaign dedicated to one of its best product lines: denim.

To keep subscribers engaged throughout the season, Madewell launched a 24-day email campaign dedicated to denim products, releasing a new item or promotion via email each day. On the first day of the campaign, Madewell released a beautiful, eye-catching email that gave subscribers a glimpse at all the great products to be released throughout the campaign.

2. Sears

For much of the United States, 2016 brought record high summer temperatures. And with the extreme heat comes air-conditioning repairs, upgrades and general maintenance.

Sears capitalized on this trend for one of its summer email campaigns with a very timely subject line: “Summer is still on, is your air conditioner?”

We love this simple and clever subject line because it forces subscribers to question whether or not one of their most important appliances is functioning properly. If not, Sears will be top of mind for repairs or a new AC unit.

3. Dot & Bo

Recently, we talked about using customer emotion to target audiences and achieve engagement. Furniture and home decor brand Dot & Bo used summer nostalgia to achieve this, and they did it beautifully.

For many, summertime brings back memories of our favorite activities: swimming, amusement parks and family barbecues. Dot & Bo draws on one summer pastime in particular, state fairs, to promote a collection of vintage furniture and decor to enhance the feeling of summer. We love this campaign because it delights audiences with enticing, creative and elegant product photography embedded directly within the email.
